Visual collaboration platform provider Miro has rolled out Miro for Google Meet, enabling greater team and remote-working interactivity via an integration with the Google Workspace platform.
Varun Parmar, chief product officer at Miro, said the teams on Google Meet would be able to create and communicate with Miro at the same time via a single, shared platform.
“The future of work is hybrid, and it requires organisations to rethink our old meeting format, especially when it comes to bridging the gap between participants who are in-person and those who are remote,” Parmar said.
According to the vendor’s announcement, Miro for Google Meet is the newest addition to a number of Google Workspace integrations and add-ons that help teams collaborate visually from anywhere, building on Miro for Google Calendar, and the capability to collaborate in real time across Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly in a Miro board.
“Created in partnership with Google Workspace, the integration enhances the Google Meet experience through the ability to quickly launch Miro and begin collaborating on new or existing boards without switching apps,” it said.
According to Miro, meetings are most effective and productive when teams can do some preparation beforehand. With the Miro add-on for Google Calendar, meeting organisers can help drive both content and collaboration — for instance by attaching a Miro board to their invitation.
No sign-in or sign-up is needed to use Miro for Google Meet, the vendor said.
David Citron, product director for Google Meet, said that bringing Miro’s digital whiteboard platform inside Google Meet would make it easier for Meet users.
“Fostering rich collaboration where all voices are heard and valued is a major challenge in hybrid work environments, especially when it comes to ideation and brainstorming activities,” Citron said in the statement.
Miro has also added other features to its virtual whiteboard application, including new Miroverse templates and the ability to add author labels onto its ‘sticky’ notes.
“Want to quickly see which teammate wrote a sticky note on a Miro board? Now you and your teammates can easily add your names to the sticky notes you create, with one click,” the vendor said.
Any board editor can disable the author label, ensuring anonymity if needed — via the context menu by enabling/disabling the ‘show author’ option, it added.
