Education software provider Instructure has made another acquisition, folding US-based LearnPlatform solutions into its expanding portfolio.

Steve Daly, chief executive officer at Instructure, whose offerings include learning management platform (LMS) Canvas, said in announcing the deal that the acquisition of LearnPlatform underscores Instructure’s commitment to building an open global education platform.

“K-12 and higher education institutions need an efficient, research-based, insight-rich solution that drives the selection and ongoing management of the sprawling learning technology landscape,” Daly explained.

“Adding these solutions gives our customers and partners even more ways to measure the impact of their investments and drive student outcomes for each and every student.”

According to Instructure, the purchase will add “evidence-based” insight for education tech applications to its arsenal for educators and training providers.

Partners will also benefit, the vendor said, as the LearnPlatform ecosystem has some 10,000 education-application provider listings.

New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)-listed Instructure believes the LearnPlatform offering is unique, adding evidence-based insight into inventory, compliance, procurement, and usage, enabling customers and partners to make the right tech choices for their students.

Karl Rectanus, chief executive of LearnPlatform, said the merger would benefit students and learners, as well as their institutions and districts.

“The combination of LearnPlatform and Instructure will accelerate access to the trustworthy, independent evidence they need to inform decisions,” Rectanus said.

North Carolina based LearnPlatform team employs some 70 people, while Instructure boasts around 600 partners. However, the terms of the acquisition transaction were not disclosed.

Instructure’s Canvas product family offers features for hybrid, in-person, and online learning, including Canvas LMS for course content, student communication, participation and grades, and its video learning platform Canvas Studio.
